Become a Volunteer

As a volunteer of the Portland Recovery Community Center you are an integral part of our overall mission. We are founded on the premise of providing “peer-to-peer” recovery support services and building community within these walls to provide a safe haven for people from every addiction recovery pathway. As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to help people from your community
who are on a lifelong journey of recovery from addiction. Your commitment to support our visitors and members is deeply appreciated by all.

Volunteering at the Portland Recovery Community Center supports the recovery community by providing a productive, safe, and engaging outlet for those in recovery. Successful relationships between a volunteer and a person in recovery help to instill a sense of accomplishment and pride for both individuals and are the foundation of our Center’s services.

As a volunteer you will:

• Support the recovery community
• Make new friends and be of service to others
• Share your experience, wisdom and ideas with others
• Be an active, vital member of the recovery community
• Build your resume- develop professional work habits, references and job experience
• Receive recognition for your dedication and service to the community

Program hours:
Monday thru Friday, 9 am to 8 pm

Saturday, noon to 8 pm.

MAAR and Portland RecoveryCommunty Center support and uphold the many pathways of recovery and welcome all in our programs.

Become a Member

By becoming a member, you are invited to help with Center activities and to become one of our volunteers. Members join us for daily Community Meetings and help plan our direction during Operations Committee Meetings. Members can sign out meeting rooms as well as time on our computers; members are also welcome to use our Recovery Library onsite.

We believe the success of this Center depends on the talents and strengths that each member contributes to strengthen the Center's positive community presence and program growth.

Members support one another through their positive recovery presence and by sharing support.

To become a member, fill out the form at the front desk and return to a member of the Center staff. Download member application: membership application

Become a Volunteer

First, join the center as a member, then you can sign up to become a volunteer. These are people who serve as leaders by volunteering as Recovery Coaches, Telephone Recovery Support Callers, and Leadership Training Facilitators or by signing up for work shifts at the center.

Volunteers provide a responsible level of peer support to others in recovery and are recognized for their efforts at the Annual Volunteer Award Dinner.

They form the backbone of the Recovery Community Center through their service as peer mentors, greeters and working with staff to manage program operations.

To become a volunteer, please meet with Volunteer Coordinator, Nancy Cormier. She can be reached at 207-553-2575 or email her. You can also download a Volunteer Application here.
